Humans of New York uploaded this photo of a gay teen to Facebook last Friday with the heartbreaking quote “I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me.” The comments are an outpouring of love and support for the boy. photo via The Daily Beast Hillary Clinton’s “Getting Started” video dove into the culture wars with the glee of an 8-year-old cannonballing into the backyard pool by featuring two same-sex couples, including one that talks about getting married. This shouldn’t be remarkable given that 59 percent of the American people support marriage equality, which is now legal in 37 states, plus the District of Columbia, and could be the law of the land if the Supreme Court hands down a ruling making it so this June. But it remains remarkable because some Republicans insist on continuing to fight a war they have lost. Back in February, The Post’s Aaron Blake reported an incredible finding in the NBC News-Marist poll of the earliest primary states from February. “Opposition to gay marriage” could do be a “deal-breaker” among Republican primary voters in South Carolina and New Hampshire. In both those states, one conservative and one more libertarian, 52 percent of GOP primary voters surveyed said opposition to marriage was “mostly/totally unacceptable.” And if you dive deeper into the stats for Iowa, you’ll see that, with a margin of error of 3.3 percent, it is a virtual tie on the unacceptability issue.
